Only fly Vietnam Air to Cambodia. It's great. Do NOT fly Cambodian Air, or PCT Air, as some people call it. PCT Air is a private airline. There is no Cambodian Air between Hanoi and Siem Reap. We were told that "Cambodian Air" was cheaper because of the flight time. Don't fall for this. Pay the extra $70 and go with Vietnam Air. PCT Air, as it turns out, does not even have a check-in counter at the airport. Only 8 of us suckers, all foreigners, ended up on this flight. They don't even check your bags. "There's plenty of space on the plane for your bags- so just take them with you," they say. The flight steward told us he's been flying this route on this 35-year-old plane for 6 years- without a crash. It's due, I tell you. The flight 'engineer' was a Vietnam Vet, and his job was apparently to make sure the door stayed shut. It took him 15 minutes to do this. The air did not start until the place took off, which it did, 1 hour late.

You may know Halong Bay, a Unesco-listed heritage. However, it is crowded with tourists recently. For example, when you visit the Sung Sot cave (Cave of Surprises), hundreds of travellers in the cave at the same time. You may find 4 or 5 groups in the same chamber of the cave. The guide may introduce the legend & stories related to the cave, however, it is so noisy there to listen to the guide words.
- However, Bai Tu Long Bay is your another choice to enjoy the bay of less touristy places. There is a lot of islets and islands in Bai Tu Long Bay, same of Halong Bay. Actually, Bai Tu Long is an area next to Halong Bay. To get there, from Hanoi, it takes 4 hours by car. Do not stop in Bai Chay, but go straight to Hon Gai (over the Bai Chay bridge). Some local boat operators offer luxury cruises to Bai Tu Long bay
